“Values from Race Differences in Intelligence by Richard Lynn, based on a similar but non-identical map in the book. Values are average IQ scores for the indigenous peoples of each region. For example, the values for Australia are for Indigenous Australians, not the immigrants of European ancestry that now make up the majority of the Australian population.”
I just found this to be an interesting map on Wikipedia.

Everyone has data on their computer. Pictures of family, friends, scenery, or just random snapshots. Documents, reports, homework, or entire novels. Also finances, music, favorites, etc. What many people lack is a way of backing that information up if the computer dies. Mozy is a great online backup tool. It uploads your files to a server online so even if your home were to burn down with everything inside it, your data would still be recoverable from the Internet. It’s simple to set up, and best of all, you can get 2 GB of backup for FREE!! You can also choose to have UNLIMITED backup storage for $4.95 / month. It’s also automated. No forgetting to back up because of laziness or time.
Go here and check it out.

Viacom, a company owning television stations such as Comedy Central and VH1 are in a current suit against Google due to clips of their television shows (notably The Daily Show and The Colbert Report amongst others) showing up on YouTube without their permission. They claim this is a blatant violation of their copyrights and should be prevented or YouTube shut down. They have filed thousands of “take-down notices” to have videos removed from YouTube. Many not even violating their copyrights. Now it appears they’re claiming copyright violation on a video of them violating the copyright of the person posting the accused video.

Are you a Buddhist? Hope you’re not Tibetan. If you are China now requires you seek permission before reincarnating. That’s right. Without permission, once you’re dead, you’re dead. Not really sure how they’re planning on enforcing this new law, but the goal seems to be to allow China to decide who the next Dali Lama will be. Yeah…. good luck with that China.

This makes no sense to me. I hate credit cards. Hate them with a passion. But in today’s world having at least 1 for emergencies, online purchasing, or age verification basically makes them a neccessity. I use mine as LITTLE as I possibly can. Unfortunately, with car breakdowns, roommates that can’t pay their share of the bills/rent, etc I’ve had to use them a bit over the past few years. Originally I had 3 cards from 3 different companies. Only ever used 2. Since then my credit line on them has continuously increased so my need for multiple cards has diminished, but I’m now stuck unable to combine them because since I got them all 3 have been bought out by the same company….. Bank of America. Yet, they kept the cards seperate even though they are all under 1 account in my name. So I’m stuck paying 2 minimum balances and interest on 2 cards from 1 company. I’m currently trying to convince them to cancel all 3 cards and move the balances onto just 1 card with 1 payment that I can pay off easier, quicker, and while saving myself some money monthly that can be put aside to my other bills. We’ll see how this goes…
What I hate more than credit cards…. Credit Card Companies.

A new company has come out recently with the idea of applying the NetFlix idea to books. With plans starting at $20 / month you get books in the mail, keep them as long as you want, then send them back and get a new one. The main page is a little sparse at the moment due to server problems with the sudden BOOM in popularity, but should be back to normal soon. Give it a look.

Now I guess they had to say something, but I’m pretty sure the people that are going to do this sort of thing weren’t going to be paying attention anyway……
“While beavers are clearly a broadband menace, they’ve got nothing on random gunfire. Back in 2005, we noted how several users lost DSL connectivity due to “random gunfire to a aerial wire,” according to news outlets in New Mexico. Qwest’s advice to locals at the time was “don’t shoot guns randomly.”
That advice wasn’t heeded this week in Cleveland, where a Level3 fiber optic cable outage (which many of you experienced first hand while trying to reach us) was blamed on a trigger-happy local:
Internet service providers in the U.S. experienced a service slowdown Monday after fiber-optic cables near Cleveland were apparently sabotaged by gunfire. . . When technicians pulled up the affected cable, it appeared to have been shot. “Somebody had been shooting with a gun or a shotgun into the cable,” said Anders Olausson, a TeliaSonera spokesman.”
I guess target practice takes priority….
