Pretty much any anti-virus company now has a free online virus scanner, but some are better than others, and some will remove what they find while others will not.

Housecall From TrendMicro is my personal favorite. It is very good at finding and removing most viruses and spyware and can also look for missing updates, open ports, etc.

Adobe Acrobat Reader has become a bloated PIG!  It’s a large download, slow to open, and on many machines unstable to use.  They’re also constantly issuing updates and patches for security flaws for parts of the program 99% of the people NEVER use.  Those updates and patches are also large.   A great alternative is Foxit Reader.  It can open PDF files just as well as Adobe Acrobat Reader, but does so QUICKLY and with a SMALL amount of memory as compared to Adobe’s offering.  Also, it’s a MUCH SMALLER download.  I’ve switched over and know many other people that have switched to Foxit with no trouble what-so-ever.  If you just need to open the occasional PDF file, REMOVE Adobe Acrobat Reader and try Foxit Reader.  It’s also 100% FREE.
