Viacom, a company owning television stations such as Comedy Central and VH1 are in a current suit against Google due to clips of their television shows (notably The Daily Show and The Colbert Report amongst others) showing up on YouTube without their permission. They claim this is a blatant violation of their copyrights and should be prevented or YouTube shut down. They have filed thousands of “take-down notices” to have videos removed from YouTube. Many not even violating their copyrights. Now it appears they’re claiming copyright violation on a video of them violating the copyright of the person posting the accused video.
