WinAmp has long been my music player of choice.  Lately I've been looking for support for the new Windows 7 features such as the Jump List and other taskbar uses.  Finally today I found a plugin for Winamp that supports all that. The plugin's features, briefly:

1. shows playback status and progress in the icon background of the taskbar icon
2. shows playback status using icon overlays on the taskbar icon
3. customizes the aero peek thumbnail with:
   1. Winamp logo
   2. album art
   3. customized information about the current media playing
   4. custom image file
4. adds player control buttons on the aero peek thumbnail
5. adds the playing media to the 'Recent' category of the jump list
6. Winamp is now easier to find in 3DFlip

Compatibility and convenience:

Progress Bar:

• Playing local file - green progress bar
• Playing streaming media - green looping 'indeterminate' progress bar
